OCEan’s flow
Tenerife
...inspired by the ocean, its contrasts, and learning to trust the flow
This project started almost a year before I touched the canvas.
While leaving Tenerife after living there for a while, a friend saw my art and simply said, "Next time you come back, I want a painting from you."
The painting had been quietly brewing in me ever since.
So, when my island friends called for a spontaneous meetup, I secretly planned the whole surprise, packed my things, and was on my way. After landing, I went straight to the art store, got everything I needed, and casually walked into the hostel, shocking everyone.
For the next few days, I turned beaches, the hostel, and every free corner into a temporary art station.
Every drying break was spent with my friends, and the painting slowly came together.
This painting is all about contrast & love for the ocean.
The same ocean can be calm, peaceful, and full of freedom one moment... then powerful, chaotic, and completely unforgiving the next.
Both sides existing together in balance.
The shapes of crashing waves into each other are there to show the power, unforgivingness, and chaos.
On the opposite side lies the ocean with clouds and the night sky, showing the peaceful, calm, and flowy nature of the water.
The lighter tones and whites show joy, fun, peace, and love.
The darker tones and blacks show depth and darkness.
Both residing within each other.
In some places, we can see the night sky as it's peeking through the lower layers, reflecting the universe within the water and every living being.
Water can also be messy and unforgiving, just like life, testing us... but somewhere there is always light, and that's where the golden strokes found their purpose.
At its heart, this painting is about one simple lesson...
TRUST THE FLOW
Eventually, the surprise came together. The new owners were excited to give it a new home. After spending some more time with my friends and just barely catching my flight back, I had another adventure in the books.
